Robert Moffat Jr. a senior vice president of IBM, is sent on leave following his arrest last Friday. Officials arrested Moffat and five others Friday, including Galleon Group founder Raj Rajaratnam, in an alleged insider-trading scheme that federal prosecutors claim netted millions in illegal profits. Moffat is alleged to have given inside information about IBM and its partners to another defendant in the case. Rajiv Goel, treasury management director of Intel, has been put on administrative leave after he was implicated in the case.

According to U.S, attorney Preet Bharara of southern NY, all the defendants were "caught" using wiretaps, describing them as "powerful investigative techniques that have worked so successfully against the mob and drug cartels."

"Intel was not aware of this case and was not contacted by authorities," spokesman Chuck Mulloy said in an interview. He also said the company has begun its own investigation into the matter.
