Corporate America's embrace of sustainability has more than doubled in strength in the past three years with 76 percent of the largest U.S. firms reporting efforts and commitments that exceed those required by law, according to a new study.

Greenbiz.com posted this blurb the other day about a study that was conducted which states the businesses in the United States seem to be embracing the idea of sustainability. The posting by Greenbiz.com is a reference to a larger article about the study which can be found here: http://www.greenerbuildings.com/news/2009/09/17/corporate-americas-adoption-green-practices-doubles-study-says
The article discusses the reasoning behind this new trend and most of the data indicates that companies have realized that over time their investment in sustainability will reduce their energy costs. A smaller minority recognize the fact that the consumer market has imbraced sustainable practices and have begun marketing new products with this in mind.
Its nice to see that sustainable living and good business practices can go hand in hand.

  1. Helping the environment is a huge issue to work with the budget. I believe everyone and any state are trying to shrink the budget to save money. A majority of cities have reported their infrastructure budget have been efected for the economic crisis. However, if everyone is aware that the green and friendly technology will be represent an opportunity for the country for saving money on energy, that will be better future for the environment and for us. If the sustainability is also a concept for keeping existing structure instead of building new ones, I support that. Million of Millions of Dollars are invested in new contructions, and also a lot of wasting materials that affect the population' wellbeing. I hope everyone adopt that.

  2. Going green is an investment for company dollars and for life itself. It will pay for itself over time. From my own personal perspective, I've noticed that people tend to be in the favor of companies who decide to go green or have go green initiatives rather than companies who dont.
