Accountants Sue Charity for Wrongful Dismissal

According to the information in the above-posted link, two accountants were fired and have subsequently filed suit in Oklahoma County District Court for wrongful dismissal after notifying the Oklahoma Tax Commission that the Feed The Children organization owed $1.1 million in “use” taxes and that it was covered up by the CFO of the organization.

If the facts (according to the two accountants) are true, it is a great injustice to the accounting profession in that the accountants had virtually done their jobs and reported the issue to the proper authorities and had then been punished for their actions.

Not all employers agree with the actions of their employees however, when adhering to the law and performing all obligatory tasks, the employees’ morals will remain intact. Shame on any organization who would expect a employee, subcontractor, or representative to lie on their behalf or misrepresent the facts for personal gain!

  1. The accountant should not be fired and the Organization needs to reexamined for defaulting taxes. That's why charity are not thing :P
