Obama Slower Than Bush to Confirm Justices

As noted in US News and World Report on November 6, 2009, to date, only 26 lower court nominations have been made by President Obama, of which only 4 have been Senate-confirmed.

With close to 100 justice vacancies within the court system, it seems as though the Democrats & Republicans are taking a childish stances through finger-pointing and “he-said/she-said” rituals as opposed to making an effort to accomplish a common-interest goal.

The minimalistic number of nominations for justices by the President seem to add to the problem. Albeit, Senate bickering is not benefiting either but at least there is a possibility of getting justices approved. Without the nominations, obviously, no approvals are possible.

  1. One of the main problems with out political system is clearly demonstrated here. It's never about what's best for the country, it's always about winning. The Democrats and Republicans don't care who could do the best job, they care about attacking and discrediting the other side so they can win.
